Production Facilities and Capabilities
BioFilm’s 25,000 sq ft state-of-the-art R&D and production facilities are ISO 13485 certified. The production area meets the highest international hygiene standards. The site also contains warehousing and laboratory facilities, as well as general offices. There is room for significant expansion in the years ahead.
Currently, the company has one extrusion line but there are plans to expand this capacity rapidly over the next few years.
In May 2009, we became the first European manufacturer to have single dosage sachet capability with the capacity to produce up to 150 million sachets per year.
In addition, our sector-leading EU Class 10 (Class 10,000) Clean Room manufacturing capability was completed in early 2009 which allows BioFilm to manufacture implantable and invasive medical devices and pharmaceuticals.

BioFilm is Europe’s No 1 producer of soluble and absorbable thin films. We provide a fully integrated service which means we can take innovative new concepts right through from the initial research stages to advanced product development, manufacture, packaging and delivery. We work with a number of US and European companies to develop and manufacture new products delivering active ingredients utilising the thin film delivery system.
We believe our partners benefit from our flexible approach: we are delighted to work with them on a variety of levels (such as development contracts, manufacture and supply agreements, shared IP etc) or can offer them the full one-stop shop service which will take their concept through from research and development to manufacture, packaging and supply.
